As I was searching through the Adirondacks for new places to photograph for my book, 'Adirondacks: Views of An American Wilderness', I traveled down into the southwest Adirondacks to explore the region around the West Branch of the Sacandaga River. One of the places I visited was Good Luck Mountain, and the beautiful pond at the base of the mountain.
In looking for a place to photograph the pond, I found the beaver lodge along the outlet. I checked out where to set up, then waited for the weather to come together the way I wanted and headed back over a few days later - real early in the morning - to take this image. I set up well before actual sunrise, and took this photo just after the sun rose, when frost covered all the grasses and bushes, and just the right amount of fog was rising over the pond. |
