We hadn't been to Acadia in several years, so it was fun to travel back to Acadia again in 2001 - this time with a panoramic camera. I found a couple of locations along the well-known, rocky ocean shoreline that seemed like they would work well for some 360 panoramic images. Then it was simply up to having the right weather conditions while we were there - at the right tide level. Since tides fluctuate 8 to 12 feet, some of the places for photos only worked out at low - or mid tide levels.
I found a place near the trailhead for Gorham Mtn. where a rocky promontory jutted out into the ocean at low tide, and the water came in on 3 sides of the image. The sun rose in a gentle mist and softened the morning light. This helped give definition to the rocks - as well as the dark green kelp and seaweeds that grow in the tide zone. |
